High tuition and living, but graduate salaries and a regional jobs hub support payback.

Safety & visa

After you graduate

Post-study work rights are the most important factor — and the most likely to change. Here is the position as of today.

There is no automatic, universal post-study work visa. If you are an eligible graduate of one of Singapore’s Institutes of Higher Learning, you can apply for an ICA Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) to look for a job. The LTVP is not a work pass — to work, you need an Employment Pass or S Pass sponsored by an employer. LTVP charges are a S$45 application fee, a S$60 issuance fee on approval, and a S$30 Multiple Journey Visa fee where applicable.

Immigration rules, eligibility and salary thresholds change frequently and without notice. Always verify the latest official guidance before you apply, and never treat any figure here as a guarantee of future entitlement.

Visa, work & money rules

The official rules behind your visa, work, family and budget planning. Rules change often, so confirm each point on the official government or university website before you apply.

Visa & permit fees

The Student’s Pass has a S$45 application (processing) fee and a S$60 issuance fee. A S$30 Multiple Journey Visa applies where required.

Work while studying

If you study at an eligible MOM-approved institution, you can work up to 16 hours a week during term time and full-time during vacations. Students at non-approved institutions may not work.

Family & dependants

The ordinary Student’s Pass does not create a general spouse or child dependant route. Family members would need their own qualifying pass.

Health insurance

Hold health or medical insurance as required by your institution. Singapore has no automatic public health coverage for Student’s Pass holders.
