After you graduate

Post-study work rights are the most important factor — and the most likely to change. Here is the position as of today.

After you complete your studies, you can apply for a job-seeker residence permit to stay and look for relevant work, subject to UDI conditions.

Immigration rules, eligibility and salary thresholds change frequently and without notice. Always verify the latest official guidance before you apply, and never treat any figure here as a guarantee of future entitlement.

Visa & permit fees

The study residence permit fee is NOK 5,400.

Work while studying

You can work up to 20 hours a week during term time and full-time during holidays, subject to your permit conditions.

Proof of funds

You must document funds of NOK 15,488 per month (NOK 170,368 per year, 2026 rate). This is a visa requirement, separate from actual living costs.
